Who do I contact if a vehicle is parked overnight?

Bridgewood is inside of the Town of New Palestine town limits and therefore the town’s parking laws apply to Bridgewood.

Below is the Code for street parking in New Palestine:

SCHEDULE II. LIMITED PARKING ZONES.
It shall be unlawful for any person to leave any vehicle stopped, standing or parked on either side of any street or alley for a period of more than 2 hours between the hours of 12:00 midnight and 6:00 a.m.
(1989 Code, Chapter 45, Sch. II) (Ord. 286, passed 11-26-1956) Penalty, see § 47.99

§ 47.99 PENALTIES.
The following penalties and procedures shall apply to all sections of Title 4, Traffic Code.

(A) Upon conviction of a violation of any traffic regulation adopted herein and parking regulations, the offender shall be fined a sum in an amount as set by the Town Council from time to time, in addition to court costs.

If the vehicle has been parking between Midnight and 6:00 a.m. for more than 2 hours you can call the Hancock County Sheriff non-emergency number and report the vehicle. Basically an officer needs to make note of the time the vehicle is parked and then recheck 2 hours later, if the vehicle has not been moved he may ticket it.

Who is responsible for mowing around the ponds?

Each homeowner that lives on one of the ponds is responsible for their own area up to the pond. The landscaping company that takes care of our neighborhood will mow the common areas around the pond and other common areas. However, each homeowner on the ponds is responsible for mowing their own lot.

What do I do if I need to build a shed, install a fence, or build a new deck?

You must contact the board, request an ACR, submit the ACR for approval, and then contact the town and see if you need a permit. Once you have done all of these steps, then you can start on your new project. DO NOT FORGET TO CALL 811 BEFORE YOU DIG.

Trash cans - Must be placed to where they cannot be seen from the street. They need to be placed either beside your house or behind your house. You cannot store your trash cans in your driveway or at the front of your house.

Driveways -Bridgewood does not permit parking trailers, boats, campers, or large trucks in a homeowner's driveway. (A 48 hour exception may be approved by a board member for special circumstances) And overnight street parking is not permitted for any vehicles or trailers per the town of New Palestine. (Please see F.A.Q. section on how to handle reporting a vehicle that is parked in the street overnight.)

Parking - The HOA cannot stop someone from parking in front of your house. We do ask that you use common courtesy and do not park in front of someone else's house, block a driveway, or mailbox. Try to park in front of your own house without blocking your neighbors driveway. We know that this is not always possible but please try to take your neighbor into consideration when parking your vehicle. We have had several complaints about this over the years.

Ponds - The ponds in our neighborhood are to help our drainage systems. Absolutely do not dump anything down the street drains or in the ponds (especially any chemicals). This will go directly into our ponds and it not only kills the fish but it also promotes unwanted algae growth and bad smells.

ACR - Architectural Change Request

Please email the HOA at bridgewood_homeowners@yahoo.com to get a copy of the ACR before making any architectural changes. Please allow plenty of time to get this done before starting your project. The HOA board members will respond as quickly as possible. Keep in mind that the board members do not check the email daily and you may need to get a permit from the town as well. If you do not get a response within 7-10 days, contact one of the board members directly. Thank you.
